Projects
The one place an item lives — how to make projects, move things between them, and set what each one does on its own.
A project is a folder. Every item is in exactly one, and the sidebar lists them all. New accounts start with Inbox.
All items, and one project#
The top of the sidebar has All items — the whole library in one grid, across every project. Below it is the project list. Clicking a project narrows everything to it: the grid, the tag filter, the search, and the buttons in the toolbar.
Picking a project also clears the tag filter. A tag that belonged to the project you just left would otherwise leave you looking at an empty grid and wondering why.
Make one#
Click + beside Projects in the sidebar and give it a name. Names are free text, and a project can be renamed later without touching what is inside it.
Drag a project up or down the list to reorder it. The order is yours and it is remembered.
Move items into it#
Three ways, and the right one depends on how many items you are moving:
- Drag a card onto a project in the sidebar. Select several first and they all go.
- Select, then Move to. Ctrl-click (⌘-click) cards to select them, or Shift-click for a range; the bar at the bottom of the window has a Move to menu.
- Capture into it. Set the active project in the extension popup, and everything you save from then on lands there.
Project settings#
With a project open, the gear button in the toolbar opens its settings:
- Name — rename it.
- AI auto-tagging — how thorough tags and descriptions should be for this project, and whether new items are annotated the moment they arrive. See AI annotation.
- Delete — remove the project.
Warning
Deleting a project deletes the items inside it, permanently, along with their files. The dialog says how many, and the delete button has to be clicked twice. Move anything you want to keep first.
How to use them#
Projects work best as a small number of wide buckets, with tags doing the fine sorting inside them. Capture into Inbox all week and sort it on Friday, or keep one project per piece of work and set the active project when you start. Both are common; a project per week is not.
