Privacy Policy

JayBoard is a private visual library. You capture images, videos, links and whole pages from the web, and they are stored in an account that only you can read. This page explains what that involves: what is collected, why, who else touches it, and how to get rid of it.

Who we are

JayBoard is operated by Alajmo AB, a company registered in Sweden, which is the data controller for everything described here. For anything in this policy, including access and deletion requests, contact contact@jayboard.com.

What we collect

Your account

• Your email address.
• A hash of your password — we never store the password itself. If you use Sign in with Google we store the identifier Google returns instead, and never see a password at all.
• A session token, set as a cookie, so you stay signed in.

What you save

Everything you capture, and the details attached to it: images, videos, page snapshots, the address and title of pages you bookmark, the time you saved them, plus any project, tags and description you add. This is the product, and it is stored until you delete it.

Billing

Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Our database keeps only your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, your subscription status, which plan you are on, and when the current period ends.

Technical and operational

• Server and web-server logs, which include your IP address, the request path, and a timestamp. These exist so the service can be run and abuse can be stopped.
• Counters used for rate limiting and storage quotas.
• Error reports, when something breaks. Addresses are stripped from these before they are sent, so an error report does not carry the location of your content.

The browser extension

The JayBoard extension for Chrome is the capture tool. It is worth being precise about what it does, because it asks for broad access to websites:

• It reads a page only after you act — the keyboard shortcut, the toolbar popup, or a Save offline click inside your own library.
• It sends what you selected to your JayBoard server and nowhere else. The destination is fixed when the extension is built; it cannot be pointed elsewhere.
• It needs access to all sites because you decide which sites those are by browsing, and because the image or video you pick is usually hosted on a different domain than the page showing it.
• It stores your settings and a queue of saves made while the server was unreachable, locally in the browser, until they are sent.

How we use it

• To run the service — store what you save, and show it back to you.
• To operate your account, including sign-in and password reset email.
• To take payment, and to know which plan you are on.
• To keep the service up and defend it against abuse.
• To generate tags and summaries, if you have that feature enabled — see below.

We do not profile you, build an advertising identity, or sell anything to anyone.

Automatic tagging

JayBoard can tag and summarise what you save using Anthropic's Claude models. When this is on, the image or page text concerned is sent to Anthropic for that purpose and is not used to train their models. This feature is optional and is off unless it has been enabled on the server your account lives on.

Who else processes your data

These providers are used to run the service. Each receives only what its job requires.

Keeping and deleting

• What you save is kept until you delete it or close your account.
• Deleting your account deletes your content. Both the database holding your library and every stored file are removed, not just the account record.
• Backups are taken nightly and kept for 30 days, so deleted content can persist in a backup for up to 30 days after you remove it. Backups are then destroyed on their own schedule.
• Server logs are kept only as long as needed to run and defend the service.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. You can delete your account yourself from the account page, which is the fastest route. Where the GDPR or a similar law applies to you, you also have the right to object to processing and to complain to your data protection authority — in Sweden that is Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY). Write to contact@jayboard.com and we will answer within 30 days.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Each account's library is a separate database, and stored media is private — files are served only through short-lived links generated for you, never from a public address. Backups are held in a separate location with separate credentials, so a compromise of the application does not reach them. No system is perfect, and we will tell affected users promptly if a breach ever occurs.

Children

JayBoard sets no minimum age. It is a tool for collecting reference material and is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly seek their data. If you are a parent or guardian and believe an account should not exist, contact us and it will be removed.

International transfers

The providers above operate internationally, so your data may be processed outside your own country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on the standard contractual clauses those providers offer.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and account holders are notified by email before it takes effect.
