Install the extension
Add JayBoard to Chrome, connect it to your account, and set the two keyboard shortcuts.
The extension is what captures. It runs in Chrome 120 or newer, and in the Chrome-based browsers built on the same engine.
Install it#
The install link lives in the app, not here, so that it always points at the current build:
- Open your library.
- Take Get the extension — it is in the welcome a new account sees, and it is always in the About section of the shortcuts panel, behind the ? button in the toolbar.
- Install it, then pin it: click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome's toolbar and pin JayBoard, so its icon stays visible. The icon is where the popup lives, and the popup is where the active project is chosen.
Note
If no install link is shown, the extension is not yet available for the server you are signed in to. Everything in Adding items from the app works without it.
Connect it to your account#
There is nothing to configure and no API key to paste. The extension talks to the same address as the library and reuses the session cookie your browser already has.
- Sign in to your library in the same browser profile.
- Open the extension popup.
- The dot at the top right is green and the line beside it names your library when the two are connected.
If the popup says Sign in to JayBoard to save, the browser has no session — sign in to the library and open the popup again.
Warning
A capture needs the session of the profile it runs in. If you use several Chrome profiles, sign in to the library in each one where you want to capture.
The two keyboard shortcuts#

| AltShiftD | Turn on one-click mode: each click sends what is under it straight to the active project. |
Both are suggestions rather than reservations, so Chrome gives them up if another extension already holds them. To see what yours actually are, or to change them, open chrome://extensions/shortcuts. The popup's footer always shows the binding that is really in force.
The active project#
The popup has a Project picker at the top. It decides where a one-click capture and a right-click save land — the selection overlay's → project button is labelled with it, so you can always read the destination before you click.
New accounts start with a single project called Inbox, and that is a good place to leave it: capture fast, sort later.
What the popup can do on its own#
Below the project picker are three things that act on the page you are looking at:
- Bookmark page — saves the address with a screenshot, the page's title, and its own description.
- Save page as HTML — saves the whole page as one self-contained file, styles and images included.
- Record a tab — records the tab as a video. Video mode records only the video element on the page, and is offered when the page has one.
